The Jockey Club “Age at Home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service Centre is hosting a mini-exhibition themed “Gerontechnology, Accompanying You Along the Way" Mini-exhibition”, which shows various equipment designed to support the people with mobility challenge and their caregivers. In conjunction with the mini-exhibition, a series of theme-related activities will be organised for the public.
The upcoming workshop - "Challenge Free Mobility", the occupational therapist will teach proper lifting and transfer techniques, introduce the use of assistive tools, and provide stretching exercise recommendations to reduce strain, specifically addressing the needs of caregivers.
Caregivers, domestic helpers and the public are all welcome to attend this free of charge workshop. Caregivers can accompany the individuals they care for to the workshop.
Activities:
- The occupational therapist will demonstrate correct lifting and transfer postures to minimise injury to both caregivers and those being cared for
- Assistive aids for transfer will be introduced, with hands-on practice included
- Stretching exercises tailored for caregivers will be taught to help reduce strain from daily caregiving tasks
