“Understanding Dementia” Mini-exhibition

Dementia is a brain disease that causes deterioration not only in patients’ memory, judgment and the ability to perform daily activities, but also their emotions and behaviour. Yet, the functions of the brain could be maintained with the aid of medication and training, and the deterioration could be slowed down if the disease can be diagnosed at the early stage.

Jockey Club "age at home" Gerontech Education and Rental Service Centre is now holding "Understanding Dementia" mini-exhibition to deepen the understanding of Dementia among the general public. The topics include:

- Signs & symptoms
- Common types of dementia
- Stage of dementia
- Gerontechnology application across stages
- Dementia risk factors
- Myths about dementia
- Food and nutrition of dementia

The exhibition also showcases various gerotechnology equipment that support the patients of dementia. By creating a safe, comfortable and convenient smart home, it can facilitate patients’ self-care and make it easier for them to participate in daily activities, and slow down the further decline of daily living abilities. This can also reduce caregivers’ burden as well.
